Prerequisite: ART 161 - Studio Art: Pottery I
Continuation of ART 161 with greater emphasis on wheel work. Further study of form and aesthetics as applied to functional work and sculpture. Further exploration of decorating techniques and kiln firing processes.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Further enhance their knowledge of the properties of clay through the further acquisition of hand-building skills. Gain further skill with wheel-throwing as a formative process. Gain further knowledge and direct experience of clay, glazes and the firing process. Further their knowledge of the ceramic traditions of Western and non-Western cultures. obtain a greater awareness of contemporary ceramics. Gain expand their knowledge of design elements and principles and learn to apply that knowledge in a creative, individual way. Develop their abilities to creatively express ideas and feelings in a plastic medium in an individual way. Expand their linear and non-linear thinking capabilities in order to enhance their creative expression. Gain confidence in their ability to express themselves in a creative, non-verbal way. Further their knowledge of ceramic vocabulary and processes. Students will increase their ability to think critically, problem solve and communicate their ideas verbally through group critiques. Enhance their communication skills through interaction in group projects.
